Langkawi Isles are a group of 104 islands situated about 50 kilometers off the coast of Kedah in North Malaysia. Langkawi in fact is a part of the state of Kedah, which is one of the 14 states that make up the Federation of Malaysia. Of the 104 islands that make up this archipelago, there are only three islands which are inhabited. The main island of Langkawi is the biggest and is the hub of tourist activities. Only the main island has been developed to create an infrastructure for tourist based activities. Apart from these developments, the island is still vastly rural. The rest of the islands are not inhabited at all which attracts special interest to eco-tourists. The Golf Club Datai Bay is 45 minutes drive from Langkawi International Airport.
