The Golf Course. 

The Golf Club Datai Bay, Langkawi is situated within the 8000 acre Gunung Mat-chin-chang forest reserve. Opened in 1992, the 5994 metre Par 72 course is sorrounded by thousand-year-old forest with the imposing Gunung Mat-chin-chang to the west and The Andaman Sea to the east. 

The golf course is the perfect den for golfers with its lush green undulations encompassing the island resort. This International Golf Paradise encircles the superb Machinchang Range, the Andaman Sea with its natural surroundings and Eastern wildlife. The brilliance and grandeur of the stately trees circumscribe the world class golfing course. The grounds of Golf Club Datai Bay is refurbished and spread over by fine Tifdwarf and Bermuda greens making the vales enticing. They are home to one of the most ambitious ad upcoming golf course of Malaysia boasting of the duality of both montane and coastal vistas with the centuries-old rainforest as a spectacular background. Amid the deep jungle, you can steal an eyeful of tame deer and eagles soaring above. A broad stream runs across the entire course, with an interesting water-stairway replete with many bridges. 
The Golf Club Datai Bay has been voted as the "Most Scenic Golf Course in Malaysia", 3rd Best in Malaysia by American Golf Digest and was nominated as one of the best six golf course resort in Asia Pacific Region by Hertz International Best Golf Resort. 

The Event. 

Langkawi Masters International Amateur Open is an annual event held at The Golf Club Datai Bay, Langkawi. Started in 2001, the event has now become one of the popular golf event in Langkawi. The tournament had received supports from Tourism Malaysia and Langkawi Development Authority (LADA). Since then the event has become one of the activities to promote Langkawi and The Golf Club Datai Bay as the golfing destination.

After 8th year of successfull organizing the event, The Golf Club Datai Bay are proud to say that the golf course are the "Home of Langkawi Masters".

Langkawi Masters is an OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT, played over 54 holes of golf over 3 days and is open to Male Amateur with handicap 15 and below. The event is held on every May and we are grateful to all contributors and sponsors for their supports in making the event a success.

The Golf Club Datai Bay are proud be associated with The Datai and The Andaman, Jebsen and Jessen, Anespi Bina, Saujana Resorts and other leading hotels in Langkawi in bringing the event as what is today. 

Langkawi Masters is a truly "Must Play Tournament" among avid golfers and tournament players for them  to "get even", playing at one of the most exclusive golf course in Malaysia.

 

 


 

LANGKAWI INTERNATIONAL MASTERS 2009.

Mohd Saiful Saedin, scratch handicapper from Royal Putra Perlis winning the tournament by a margin of seven strokes from runnersup and defending champion, Hassan Rejab also from Royal Putra, Perlis.

Saiful, hails from Perlis had fired a consistent rounds of 75, 75 and 76 for a three day total of 226. Last year's winner, Hassan Rejab settled for second on 233.

Sobry Ramly from Royal Kedah Club, Kedah receiving championship trophy from En. Amran Ibrahim, Director of TDR Golf Resorts. Sobry Ramly has turned to golf professionals and now resides in Kedah.

 


Champion of Langkawi Masters (2003) 

Eric Chun, an 13 years old Korean with this championship trophy. He is now 19 years old, studying and living in US.

Hassan Rejab, member of Royal Putra Club, Perlis received championship trophy and prizes from En. Amran Ibrahim, director of TDR Golf Resorts.

Hamzimie Hamzah, from Perangsang Templer Golf Golf Club with his championship trophy outshined the 2004 defending champion, Hassan Rejab. Anas Zamharil from Royal Kedah Club (left) at third placing. Hamzimie Hamzah turned to golf professionals in 2006.

 



Champion of Langkawi Masters (2006 / 2007 )


Razak Satar, member of Sebana Cove and Country Club was the Langkawi Masters champion in 2006 and 2007 respectively.

Hassan Rejab, member of Royal Putra Club, Perlis with his championship trophy defeating defending champion in 2006 and 2007, Razak Satar. Hassan Rejab was Langkawi Masters champion in 2004.
